Obituary: Sarah Thring

Sarah Louise Thring
June 8, 1951 – August 27, 2022

Sarah was compassionate, funny and smart. Her life was defined by her love of reading. She was a talented book publicist and enjoyed a successful career in Toronto and Vancouver during the heyday of Canadian publishing. She died in Vancouver on August 27 after a brief illness.

Sarah will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a tireless and passionate supporter of literacy, authors, and independent bookstores. She will be remembered for her mentorship skills and her concern for others.

Predeceased by her parents, Edward Harmer Thring and Margaret Beverly (Waterous). Survived by siblings Leslie Olsen and David (Joanne) of Toronto, and Mary Alice of Guelph, and her nieces and nephews.

In Sarah’s memory, please give a friend a book, and consider donations to support literacy, your local library, PEN Canada, or Freedom to Read, causes which Sarah supported for many years.
