The Victoria Book Prize Society announced the winners of the 2023 City of Victoria Butler Book Prize and City of Victoria Children’s Book Prize at an event October 11.

Two-time winner Pauline Holdstock won the City of Victoria Book Prize for her 11th book, Confessions with Keith, published by Biblioasis.

Julie McLaughlin won the City of Victoria Children’s Book Prize for her illustrations for Little Pine Cone: Wild Fires and the Natural World, written by Johanna Wagstaffe and published by Orca Book Publishers.

Shortlists were announced in September. Both prizes come with an award of $5,000.
