The annual competition celebrates mountain literature, and awards more than $20,000 to the winners in eight categories. The category winners, announced on October 18, were chosen from a longlist of 28 finalists.
Leistner won the $2,500 Mountain Image award for her book Forest for the Trees: The Tree Planters (Dewi Lewis Publishing).

Torbjørn Ekelund’s A Year in the Woods: Twelve Small Journeys into Nature, published by Greystone Books, won the Adventure Travel award.
The winners of all eight categories are eligible for the $5,000 grand prize, the winner of which will be announced on November 3.
