Promotions at Doubleday, Penguin

Martha Kanya-Forstner has been promoted from editorial director to editor-in-chief at Doubleday Canada. A 10-year Doubleday veteran, Kanya-Forstner recently scored a double Governor General’s win: she edited both the fiction and non-fiction GG winners (The Origin of Species by Nino Ricci and Fifteen Days by Christie Blatchford, respectively).

Also at Doubleday, Kristin Cochrane has been promoted from associate publisher to deputy publisher. Cochrane joined Doubleday three years ago, having worked for many years in sales and marketing, mainly at HarperCollins Canada. Doubleday’s editors will now report directly to Cochrane.

At Penguin Canada, Yvonne Hunter has been promoted from director of publicty and marketing to vice-president, effective in 2009. Hunter joined Penguin in 2006 and had previously worked at HarperCollins Canada.
