Six books have been longlisted for the 2025 BMO Winterset Award.

The annual $12,500 award celebrates excellence in Newfoundland and Labrador writing across all genres. Two finalists each receive $3,000.

The books longlisted for this year’s prize are:

• Cautiously Pessimistic by Debbie McGee (Breakwater Books)
• Veal by Mackenzie Nolan (ECW Press)
• The Garbage Poems by Anna Swanson (Brick Books)
• Openly Karl by Karl Wells (Breakwater Books)
