Taste Canada announces 2024 award shortlists

Taste Canada has announced the 2024 shortlists for its 10 culinary writing awards.

The annual awards, now in their 27th year, celebrate Canadian cookbooks with gold and silver winners in five English- and five French-language categories. This year, 73 cookbooks were submitted for consideration, with 44 of those titles making the shortlists.

The gold and silver winners will be announced at an event in Toronto in October.

The shortlisted titles are:

Culinary Narratives

  • Kings of Their Own Ocean: Tuna, Obsession, and the Future of Our Seas by Karen Pinchin (Knopf Canada)
  • Kitchen Bliss by Laura Calder (Simon & Schuster Canada)
  • The Matryoshka Memoirs: A Story of Ukrainian Forced Labour, the Leica Camera Factory, and Nazi Resistance by Sasha Colby (ECW Press)
  • Where We Ate: A Field Guide to Canada’s Restaurants, Past and Present by Gabby Peyton (Appetite by Random House)
  • Wine Witch on Fire: Rising from the Ashes of Divorce, Defamation, and Drinking Too Much by Natalie MacLean (Dundurn Press)

General Cookbooks
