The Vancouver Comic Arts Festival and Toronto Comic Arts Festivals have announced a new partnership‚ effective immediately. TCAF will helm all future Vancouver festivals, beginning with the 2017 edition‚ slated to take place May 27–28 at Vancouver’s Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre. VanCAF’s new festival director‚ Andrea Demonakos‚ whose previously held positions with Emerald City Comicon and pop culture events group ReedPOP‚ will oversee operations‚ and said in a press release that she aims to “grow‚ build‚ and diversify the festival even more.”

Former director and VanCAF founder Shannon Campbell is stepping down to take on a more advisory role on the board of directors‚ alongside TCAF veterans Miles Baker and Andrew Woodrow-Butcher, Vancouver comic creator Nathan Fairbairn‚ and artist Jarrett Samson. “VanCAF was conceived as a natural west coast complement to TCAF, a show I have always admired for its commitment to promoting comics of all shapes and sizes,” Campbell says. “We’re thrilled for VanCAF to continue under that banner, and I personally can’t wait to see what the TCAF team brings to the festival with their passion and experience.”
