Writers’ Trust announces finalists for 2023 Bronwen Wallace Award

Three poets and three short fiction writers have been named finalists for the 2023 RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers.

The awards, given annually since 1994, aim to identify the work of promising new writers in Canada and give them a boost in achieving a book deal. There are three finalists in both the poetry and short fiction categories.

Poetry Finalists

  • Kyo Lee for “diasporic dissonance”
  • Dora Prieto for “Notes on the Non-Place”
  • Cooper Skjeie for “Scattered Oblations”

Short Fiction Finalists

  • Vincent Anioke for “Mama’s Lullabies”
  • Zak Jones for “So Much More to Say”
  • Zilla Jones for “Triggered”

The winner of each category will receive a $10,000 prize. Winners will be announced on June 1.
