Winners of the 38th annual Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards were announced on July 24 at Comic-Con International in San Diego, U.S.A.

More than a dozen Canadian creators were nominated for the 32 prizes given out for the best publications and creators in graphic novels and comics available in the U.S.

This Place Kills Me, by Mariko Tamaki and Nicole Goux (Abrams Fanfare), was only one of two titles to win multiple awards. The YA graphic novel was named Best Publication for Teens. Tamaki also won the Best Writer prize for the title.

Tamaki is a multiple award winner and has won several Eisner awards. In 2024, she won the Eisner for Best Writer for Roaming, which also garnered the Best Graphic Album—New award. In 2025, Tamaki and Javier Rodriguez won the Eisner award for Best Limited Series for Zatanna: Bring Down the House.

Artist Eric Zawadski, nominated in three categories, was the Best New Series winner with Deniz Camp for Assorted Crisis Events (Image).

Montreal’s Drawn & Quarterly is the publisher of the Best Humor Publication winner, Tom Gauld’s Physics for Cats.
