Munroe’s gift: In July, bookseller Jim Munro – former husband of author Alice Munro – retired after 51 years, handing over his famed Victoria shop, Munro’s Books, to four long-time employees (though he’s maintaining ownership of the heritage building). Senior buyer Carol Mentha, store manager Jessica Walker, bookkeeper Sarah Frye, and operations manager Ian Cochran are splitting the store’s shares and responsibilities. Customers won’t notice significant changes, though. Walker, who holds a majority interest, told Q&Q: “We have a good thing going, so there’s no reason to mess with it.”
