Coach House poetry program returns with new advisory board

Toronto indie press Coach House Books is reinstating its poetry program after a yearlong hiatus from acquiring new titles.

Coach House editorial director Alana Wilcox will work over the next year alongside a new interim advisory board to select acquisitions for 2020 and to define the focus of the program moving forward.

The advisory board is comprised of poets Billy-Ray Belcourt, Susan Holbrook, Nasser Hussain, Tess Liem, Matthew Tierney, and Ian Williams. The committee will help guide best practices for soliciting and managing new work; balancing emerging and established poets on the list; and how to responsibly grow an Indigenous poetry program.

Coach House plans to publish four titles in 2020. Manuscript submissions for spring 2020 should be submitted (in PDF format) by May 31 to [email protected]. A second acquisitions meeting is scheduled for September, with manuscripts due Aug. 31.
