Figure 1 Publishing associate publisher Steve Cameron has signed on to be co-owner of the Vancouver-based press.

In becoming co-owner, Cameron also becomes vice-president, and will perform ownership and shareholder duties alongside publisher and president Chris Labonté, Figure 1 said in a statement.

“Steve is a talented, caring, and experienced publishing professional,” Labonté said in a release. “I am confident that his energy, curiosity, and fresh ideas will prove a massive benefit to our ownership group and to Figure 1 as a whole.”

Cameron, who joined Figure 1 as a senior editor in 2021, was promoted to associate publisher earlier this year. He is based in Toronto and leads acquisitions in central and eastern Canada and the United States.

Figure 1 Publishing, which was co-founded by Labonté and Richard Nadeau in 2012, has been operating with one owner since Nadeau’s retirement this spring.
