Three finalists have been named for the 2022 BMO Winterset Award, ArtsNL announced on Thursday.
The $12,500 annual award celebrates excellence in Newfoundland and Labrador writing across all genres. The three finalists were chosen from a six-book longlist announced earlier this month. The winner will be announced on March 30.
The finalists are:
- Shelly Kawaja, The Raw Light of Morning (Breakwater Books)
- Lisa Moore, This is How We Love (House of Anansi Press)
- Meghan Greeley, Hunger (Breakwater Books)
The finalists and longlisted works for this year’s prize were chosen by a jury composed of Douglas Walbourne-Gough, 2021 Winterset winner Carmella Gray-Cosgrove, and Mary-Deanne Shears.
“With a reading list that showcases the immense cultural wealth of the province, creating a list of finalists was no easy feat,” the jury said in a release. “We are grateful to have been a part of this celebration of writing talent in Newfoundland and Labrador.”
