House of Anansi Press has announced that Leigh Nash will join as publisher next month.

Nash, who is currently the publisher at Invisible Publishing and teaches book publishing at York University in the professional writing department, will join Anansi as publisher as of April 19.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be joining the talented team at House of Anansi,” Nash said in a release. “Anansi’s books have long inspired me as both a reader and a publisher, and it’s an honour to have this opportunity to continue building on the press’s storied literary excellence.”

Anansi president and acting publisher Semareh Al-Hillal said Nash’s “experience, passion, and ethos” match the spirit of the staff at House of Anansi.

“We are building on the fabled history of the house while moving forward, collaboratively, with an innovative, passionate team,” Al-Hillal said in a release. “I’m excited to have Leigh join us to shape the future editorial direction of the house and know that our authors and staff are going to enjoy working with her.”

Bruce Walsh, who took over as publisher after Sarah MacLachlan retired in 2020, stepped down in August 2021 to focus on his health.
