Women’s rights advocate Julie S. Lalonde has won the Speaker’s Book Award for her book Resilience is Futile: The Life and Death and Life of Julie S. Lalonde (Between the Lines Books).
The Speaker’s Book Award recognizes non-fiction works by Ontario authors that reflect the province’s culture and history. Resilience is Futile recalls how Lalonde kept the secret of her own experiences as a survivor of intimate partner violence.
