Leanne Betasamosake Simpson shortlisted for 2022 Dublin Literary Award

Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg writer, musician, and artist Leanne Betasamosake Simpson is one of six authors shortlisted for the 2022 Dublin Literary Award.

Simpson was one of eight Canadian authors included on the award’s 79-title longlist, announced earlier this year. The winner of the €100,000 award will be announced on May 19 during the International Literature Festival Dublin.

The panel of judges for this year’s award is composed of writer Sinéad Moriarty, poet and editor Alvin Pang, professor of English Clíona Ní Ríordáin, and writer and scholar Professor Emmanuel Dandaura.

The shortlisted novels are:

  • At Night All Blood is Black, David Diop; Anna Moschovakis, trans. (Pushkin Press)
  • The Death of Vivek Oji, Akwaeke Emezi (Faber & Faber)
  • The Art of Falling, Danielle McLaughlin (John Murray)
  • Noopiming: The Cure for White Ladies, Leanne Betasamosake Simpson (House of Anansi Press)
  • The Art of Losing, Alice Zeniter; Frank Wynne, trans. (Picador, Pan Macmillan)
