Sheila Heti, Gabor Maté among 2023 Vine Award winners

Sheila Heti and Gabor Maté are among the five authors named winners of the 2023 Vine Awards for Canadian Jewish Literature.

The annual awards honour Canadian writers who are Jewish or who deal with Jewish subjects across four categories: fiction, history, nonfiction, and YA/children’s literature. A Vine award for poetry is awarded once every three years. The awards are presented by the Koffler Centre of the Arts, and the winners were named at a ceremony on Oct. 12.

Each winning author receives $10,000. Winners were chosen from shortlists announced earlier this year. This year’s winners were chosen by a jury comprised of authors Alain Goldschlager, Sidura Ludwig, and Syd Zolf.
