Word on the Street moves to collective leadership structure

Literary festival Word on the Street Toronto will be moving to a collective leadership structure.

Effective immediately, Sienna Tristen, Haley Richardson, and Sarah Mosher take on new leadership positions within the organization. Tristen will set the organization’s broader artistic vision as director of programming; Richardson will handle the festival’s digital strategy as director of communications; and Mosher will be responsible for fundraising and community engagement as director of development.

Rebecca Diem, who is currently on parental leave, will become the fourth member of this leadership team when she returns in August 2024.

Outgoing festival director David Alexander, who joined Word on the Street in 2018, worked with the board and the organization’s staff to develop the new leadership model, board chair David Leonard said in a release.

“The nonprofit arts sector needs to be responsive to the changing realities and the unique challenges of live events, and we’re excited to launch this collaborative structure to build on more than thirty years of success for this beloved festival of words and ideas,” Leonard said. “The board is grateful to David for his stellar leadership during his tenure, and we’re excited to see Sienna, Haley, and Sarah take on new responsibilities as they put their stamp on our 2024 festival.”
