ReLit, revived after four years, announces 2018 award winners as part of month-long celebration

Winners of the relaunched ReLit awards have been announced for 2018, which celebrates work published in 2017. ReLit honours poetry, short fiction, and novels published by independent presses.

The prizes have been dormant for the past four years but have been revived by the new executive director, Katherine Alexandra Harvey, a writer and the daughter of ReLit founder Kenneth J. Harvey. ReLit does not include a cash prize but the winners are awarded the silver ReLit Ring, which features the English alphabet engraved on four dials that can be rotated to spell words.

Shortlists for 2019, 2020, and 2021 will be published on April 12, 19, and 26, with winners announced on April 16, 23, and 30.

The complete 2018 shortlists are featured on ReLit’s website. The list of winners follows.

Poetry
Frequent, Small Loads of Laundry, Rhonda Ganz (Mother Tongue Publishing)

Short fiction
Everything is Awful and You’re a Terrible Person, Daniel Zomparelli (Arsenal Pulp Press)
